Q&A: Turn off flash on Canon EOS Digital Rebel?

I have a Canon EOS Digital Rebel. I was wondering if there was any way to turn the flash lower? I know how to turn the flash off, but have no luck lowering it. Thanks!

Nope. It is what it is. If you want the ability to adjust the intensity of the flash you need to buy a shoe mount flash.

They do make a diffuser called the puffer that will soften and diffuse the light coming out of the flash though. Cost is $ 20

Will a cannon rebel t2i work for my photography 101 class it must be a 35mm fully adjustable slr camera?

Question by : Will a cannon rebel t2i work for my photography 101 class it must be a 35mm fully adjustable slr camera?
sorry im new to this, it also says digital or film work. thanks!

The T2i is a fully adjustable DSLR (digital Single Lens Reflex) camera but it is not a 35mm. A 35mm SLR would be film.

IMO…the ” it must be a 35mm fully adjustable slr camera” would mean film, but if it says ” digital or film work”…the T2i should be fine. It just seems odd that the instructor can do both types (film and digital) at the same time.

Is it possible to take videos in .avi format with canon 500D?

Question by sunny4ever: Is it possible to take videos in .avi format with canon 500D?
I have a Canon DSLR 500D, when I record videos it is in the format of .mov. It is inconvenient for because .mov files cannot be opened on windows media player.
Is it possible to record directly in .avi format? It takes too long to convert every single clip.

A lens cap is that round black disk that you got with the lens that covers it to keep dust off the glass.

I think you are asking about an axillary lens filters that screw on the front of the lens to give you macro capability.

Those are not all that great. Their optical quality is suspect.

If you want to try macro on a budget, buy a good set of extension tubes. Teleconverters look nearly the same as extension tubes but have a lens in them – you don’t want those as they are for a different purpose.

Extension tubes have no lens in them, and they mount between your camera and lens, to turn it into a macro lens. They actually do pretty well, and are my #1 recommendation for those wanting to try macro without buying a macro lens.

Extension tubes come in a couple different configurations. The bare-bones cheap ones, that are about $ 20 US won’t work for most people as they do not have any provision to control the lens aperture.

The better ones, such as those made by Kenko extend the electrical contacts from the camera to the lens, and those allow you to control the lens aperture and use the camera’s exposure system. They are about $ 100 US.

You have to buy extension tubes for the make of your camera, but you should have no problem finding a set for your camera.
