A lens cap is that round black disk that you got with the lens that covers it to keep dust off the glass.
I think you are asking about an axillary lens filters that screw on the front of the lens to give you macro capability.
Those are not all that great. Their optical quality is suspect.
If you want to try macro on a budget, buy a good set of extension tubes. Teleconverters look nearly the same as extension tubes but have a lens in them – you don’t want those as they are for a different purpose.
Extension tubes have no lens in them, and they mount between your camera and lens, to turn it into a macro lens. They actually do pretty well, and are my #1 recommendation for those wanting to try macro without buying a macro lens.
Extension tubes come in a couple different configurations. The bare-bones cheap ones, that are about $ 20 US won’t work for most people as they do not have any provision to control the lens aperture.
The better ones, such as those made by Kenko extend the electrical contacts from the camera to the lens, and those allow you to control the lens aperture and use the camera’s exposure system. They are about $ 100 US.
You have to buy extension tubes for the make of your camera, but you should have no problem finding a set for your camera.
